Special Syria Letter Drop Call

As you know President Obama is seeking Congressional Approval to take military action on Syria. Due to the time sensitive nature of this, we are having a special letter drop this week, in order to “Educate Congress” about the need to oppose authorizing military force in Syria. As PDA Board Member Tom Hayden has written, we need forceful diplomacy, not force without diplomacy. And the President’s surprise decision to ask the Congress to approve bombing Syria gives us this week to visit our Congresspeople at their local offices, and call and email them in Washington, to just say no. With enough PDA “street heat,” we can make a big difference in the upcoming critical vote! So please help us deliver this letter written by PDA Board member Tom Hayden, calling for “Forceful Diplomacy,” to every member of Congress this week!

Please let me know ASAP if you can deliver the attached emergency letter to your member of Congress this week - Thursday and Friday are the best days to deliver as we will have a presence on Capitol Hill on those days. As always please let me know that you have delivered this letter by email

We would like to invite you to a special call about all of this tomorrow (same time as the usual Letter Drop call which will now be moved to next Friday with details below)

Progressive Democrats of America

Progressive Democrats of America was founded in 2004 to transform the Democratic Party and our country. We seek to build a party and government controlled by citizens, not corporate elites-with policies that serve the broad public interest, not just private interests. As a grassroots PAC operating inside the Democratic Party, and outside in movements for peace and justice, PDA played a key role in the stunning electoral victories of November 2006 and 2008. Our inside/outside strategy is guided by the belief that a lasting majority will require a revitalized Democratic Party built on firm progressive principles.

For over two decades, the party declined as its leadership listened more to the voices of corporations than those of Americans. PDA strives to rebuild the Democratic Party from the bottom up-from every congressional district to statewide party structures to the corridors of power in Washington, where we work arm in arm with the Congressional Progressive Caucus. In just a couple of years PDA and its allies have shaken up the political status-quo on issues from ending the Iraq war, voter rights, protecting Social Security, a full employment economy, national healthcare and economic justice.
