Anniversaries and New Things!

Dear Supporter,

Brown Bag Lunch Vigils:

Wednesday, Jan 18th marked the two year anniversary of our Brown Bag Lunch Vigil campaign. We had 21 actions around the country and our regular monthly lobby actions at the Capitol. With this special BBLV anniversary following on the heels of MLK Day, we pushed the message of Healthcare NOT Warfare.

We also marked the second anniversary of the Citizens United decision by raising the McGovern Amendment, H.J. Res 88, which makes clear that constitutional guarantees to human beings do NOT extend to corporations!  We're glad Advisory Board member, Rep. Jim McGovern (MA03) has taken the lead on this crucial issue.

We asked our representatives to sign on to two jobs bills. See more information on the legislative "asks" here. View the full digest of our actions with photos here.

On Friday, PDA'ers around the country were active at Occupy the Courts.

New Websites:

We have have two new websites!

Pdamerica.org (same URL as old site)  Our national site has had a facelift! Check it out. As always this will have national news stories, news and information on our endorsed candidates for national office, action alerts, the store and more.

Pdacommunity.org  This is our new activist site (be sure to bookmark!) where we will give you tools to help you organize closer to home. For example, on state pages, you can post local action artcles, use forums to interact with like-minded people, "occupy" chatrooms, and much more. The Issue Organizing Team pages will be here also.

These sites seamlessly interact, so navigation is very smooth.

Congressional Progressive Caucus Summit:

PDA has been involved at the CPC summit in Baltimore for the past two days. The purpose of the summit is to map out new strategies for the progressive movement. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks about this.

Inside the Party:

Thursday's Inside the Party Call:

We will bring forward the local endorsement of Eric Griego from New Mexico's 1st Congressional District. Watch Eric sign the 99 pledge at Occupy. The Griego campaign hopes we'll ratify a national PDA endorsement this coming Thursday.

Remember, all national endorsements take place on our Inside the Party call on the fourth Thursday of each month. Each endorsement must originate at the local level. For more information, please contact conor@pdamerica.org

News about PDA endorsed Candidates:

Our PDA challenger candidates are also seeking DFA endorsements. Candidates are listed in state order. Please support our current roster of endorsed candidates here.

On Wednesday we will have our Campaign to End Corporate Rule Conference Call. Thursday is our Inside the Party call. Above, we told you about Eric Griego's bid for our national endorsement. Read Eric's answers to our national questionnaire here. You can view Eric's website here. We will also re-endorse board members, Rep. Barbara Lee (CA-09) and Rep. Dennis Kucinich (OH-10), in their re-election bids. Register here.

We look forward to hearing your voices!
