PDA Launches BlogTalk Radio - One Nation Protecting the Vote
Dear Supporter,
![]() |
| Listen "Live" on October 4th |
| Call in: (347) 202-0385 |
Yesterday we worked on Voter Registration day and that work continues! People can register to vote online in Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana and New York; if required signature is already on file via DMV or other source, you do not need to mail in your registration. If you are not yet registered to vote, use our Rock the Vote registration tool. If you are already registered, send this to friends who still need to register; be sure to verify your information with the State Board of Elections.
In the 2012 elections, PDA members will not only need to help people register to vote we must also protect the vote. In addition to our monthly conference calls, PDA is launching a weekly BlogTalk Radio show to ensure that our members have the tools and knowledge they need. The show called OneNation - Protecting the Vote will provide state-by-state Voter ID updates, voter protection resources and explain the new suppression techniques that voters may encounter. Shows will be broadcast "live" on Thursdays from 1:00 to 1:30pm starting on October 4th; the recorded show will be available on PDA Community - Stop Voter Suppression. Send your questions to radio@pdamerica.org or call-in.
| October 4th | Voter Suppression - What's Happening in Your State and What You Can Do About It |
| October 11th | Democracy Restoration - Restoring the Vote to Ex-Offenders |
| October 18th | Fighting Voter Suppression Legislation at the State and Federal Level |
PDA Deputy Field Director, Andrea Miller, will handle hosting and production duties along with Greg Peterson and Terence Dicks; we want to educate and activate our membership on this critical issue. Voter suppression is sweeping this country like a hurricane, only five (5) states did not introduce voter suppression laws. We must make sure that our newly registered voters are able to cast their vote along with seniors, people of color, students and women (all groups that have been targeted by a mass of ALEC-inspired legislation). We can expect the next legislative session will see more laws introduced to further erode registration and ballot access.
Tune in on October 4th! If you can't listen live, all shows are recorded and the archive posted on PDA Community. PDA is working hard to expand our outreach and in the coming weeks and months you'll see us launch new shows, invest in new tools and new technologies. If you're excited by our new direction, remember your donations make this possible.
In peace,
Tim Carpenter, National Director
