Pro-DC is a citywide civic organizing effort by Coalition for Smarter Growth and Greater Greater Washington comprised of D.C. residents who want to see their city continue to improve.
Pro-DC advocates for an inclusive, growing city that offers transportation and housing choices for residents of all income levels, leading to a higher quality of life for everyone. We specifically seek to ensure our city’s land use and transportation decisions foster more walkable, bikable places, and better transit options.
DC Zoning Update. This year the biggest organizing priority for the Coalition for Smarter Growth and Greater Greater Washington is working with the D.C. Office of Planning, the D.C. Zoning Commission and residents throughout the District to ensure a forward thinking, sustainable rewrite of D.C.’s zoning code.
The zoning code shapes the form of our city and influences how walkable, inclusive and transit-oriented it is. Yet the code hasn’t been comprehensively updated since 1958! Priorities have changed a lot since 1958 – and that’s why it’s so important to get involved in this effort to create the framework to help us ensure the gains we’ve made in recent years continue far into the future.
