Transit agencies have been rolling out their 2012 budgets as transit riders hold their breath. Metra raised fares 25%, and the CTA has left service cuts and fare hikes on the table for next year. This has become an annual tradition in our region, because transit is significantly under-funded. Ultimately, it's our elected leaders who hold the purse strings and decide whether our transit agencies will have enough funding to make ends meet. We need to speak up to demand that elected leaders increase investment in transit.
Contact Governor Quinn and your state legislators today to send a clear message: End the cycle of service cuts and fare increases by increasing investment in transit!
