Health Reform and Prevention
The March monthly conference call will focus on Prevention. Two guest speakers will be from Trust for America's Health (TFAH), a non-profit, non-partisan organization working to make disease prevention a national priority. By focusing on prevention, protection and communities, TFAH is leading the fight to make disease prevention a national priority. The speakers will describe new initiatives to protect the Prevention Fund. Our guests will be:
- Richard Hamburg is Deputy Director at TFAH. He oversees public-policy initiatives, advocacy campaigns, and internal operations. He has more than 25 years of experience as a leading health-policy advocate.
- Sue Pechilio Polis is TFAH’s Director of External Relations & Outreach. She is responsible for development and management of advocacy and policy outreach in support of the organization’s public-policy efforts.
We will discuss how the Prevention Fund affects other components of health reform; why it is critically important, and how GBCS organizing teams can have a positive impact in their own states.
Hamburg and Polis have providew a PowerPoint presentation to view in conjunction with their presentation: Prevention & Public Health Fund
