ADC Hosts Employment CLE Law Training for Attorneys

Washington, DC | www.adc.org | June 2, 2016 - Yesterday, the Network of Arab-American Lawyers of ADC (NAALA) hosted a free employment law CLE program and webinar for attorneys.  ADC decided to host the CLE program on the one year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in EEOC v. Abercrombie & Fitch in order to highlight the impact of the decision on employment law. ADC thanks Akin Gump LLP for their support and for providing use of their facilities.

The CLE program is part of ADC’s ongoing efforts to educate the Network of Arab American Attorneys of ADC (NAALA) on legal issues that have a large impact on the Arab-American community. Panelists discussed the legal impact of the Abercrombie decision, as well as topics including employee rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, employer obligations, articulating a bona-fide religious belief, what constitutes a “reasonable” religious accommodation, and best practices for employers to comply with the law.

Long-time ADC member and Counsel at Murphy Anderson PLLC, Anton G. Hajjar, Esq. moderated the panel that consisted of two speakers: Jennifer Goldstein, Esq., Attorney in the Appellate Division of EEOC's Office of General Counsel, and Esther G. Lander, Esq., Partner at Akin Gump LLP. Complete bios of the panelists are below:
