1st Annual Dare to Dream Conference

The college application season is here. High school students from across our state are eagerly and nervously weighing the options and roads that will lead them to the next chapter of their lives. But for thousands of those students, the college application season means something entirely different.

For undocumented and immigrant youth who have dropped out of school, who will not be reaching graduation or who have little prospect of attending college because of their immigration status or background, this year will be an education dead end.

Which is why on December 14, undocumented and immigrant youth of Massachusetts alongside our families, communities and allies, will confront major players in the world of education- from presidents, deans and professors of colleges and universities to high school headmasters, guidance counselors and staff- in order to change the way they're doing things.

Together we'll take the first step toward creating a network of DREAM schools, institutions that foster an open and inclusive environment for undocumented and immigrant youth, provide us with the supports and resources we need to succeed academically and personally, and actively advocate for our civil and human rights.

DREAMers will share their narratives, deconstruct their educational experiences and empower each other to pursue their DREAMS with meaningful dialogue and schools will work collaboratively to create a gamplan for creating institutional change.

We can make that happen one school at a time.
