Student Coordinator

Undergraduate Student Work Study 

 

Objective:           Assist in the daily operations of the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women.  Assist with the planning, implementation and publicity of programs and events of the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women

Responsibilities:

·         Perform diverse duties of an administrative/clerical nature requiring accuracy, may include:

o   Answering phones, making copies, correspondence with vendors and university offices

o   Greeting and assisting visitors daily, as well as manage telephone calls for the Center

o   Manage RSVPs for Center related events

o   Shared responsibility for smooth functioning of the department including writing correspondence, keeping track of inventory, placing orders, keeping shelves and cupboards organized

o   Other duties as assigned

 

·         Marketing and publicity of Center and programs as assigned. Duties may include:

o   Photocopying and distributing events flyers (including mailings and campus postings and Daily ads) in a timely manner

o   Postal mailing list and electronic  distribution list updates and maintenance

o   Implement informal activities designed to promote awareness of Center programs and women’s issues

o   Labeling and distributing mass mailings on campus

o   Assisting with ongoing revision and improvement of marketing and publicity procedures

o   Responsible for event publicity on Center’s social media platforms

o   Responsible for event photography including uploading to Center’s online photo account and posting photos in social media

 

·         Assist with the creative planning, implementation, and execution of student focused programs/events:

o   Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process

o   Assist in the creation of marketing, advertising, and promotional materials for programs/events

o   Assist with managing on-site set-up and clean-up for events as necessary

o   Assist with preparing event specific budgets, tracking stats, and provide periodic progress reports

o   Keep track of event specific finances

Requirements:

·         Compose a resume and have it reviewed by professional staff at the Career Center

·         Create a portfolio of work completed at the Center throughout academic year

·         Periodically review and report on current events related to the mission of the Center for Women

 

Qualifications:

·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

·         The ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment

·         Must be self-motivated with excellent time, organizational, and project management skills

·         The ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment

·         Knowledge of media relations and marketing for promoting events a plus

·         Able to maintain confidentiality

·         Desire to learn about social justice issues

 

Hours:          A minimum of 10 hours/week during semesters

 

Wage:   Dependent on work-study financial aid package and prior experience
