Imagine No Malaria - Conference Leaders Days on the Hill, Dec. 2-5
The U.S. Congress will begin a “lame duck” session beginning November 13, 2012. A key focus of the session will be the federal budget. We are inviting you as a key United Methodist leader to come to Washington, DC from December 2-5 to join us in raising our collective voice on behalf of life-saving funding for the fight against malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS.
There will be pressure to reduce this funding. We cannot let this happen.
Our time together from December 2-5 will be held in conjunction with a celebration of the "One Millionth Net!!" delivered through the ministry of the United Methodist Church's Imagine No Malaria Campaign, an exciting milestone as we move forward in our fight against malaria.
United Methodist Bishops along with conference Lay Leaders, Directors of Connectional Ministries, Conference Communicators and other conference leaders will come together from all corners of the country to join in this effort.
The United States has been the world leader in global health aid, especially through the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and through the President’s Malaria Initiative. Because of our commitment, other countries have stepped up their giving as well. We want to do all we can to ensure this critical funding continues.
