The Farmers' Table
A Gathering in Celebration of
Ohio Farms and Flavors
The Farmers' Table is returning to northeast Ohio this year! Join organic farmers Jake and Dawn Trethewey of Maplestar Farm, and their long-time restaurant partners, The Driftwood Group, for a unique farm to table experience that celebrates Ohio farms and summer flavors. Proceeds will support OEFFA and Two Foundation. Save your seat at the table!
Tastes from the Field
Sample the very best of what Maplestar Farm has to offer! We’ll pick fresh from the field for the evening and let the farm’s bounty be our guide. Guests will enjoy flavorful appetizers as they tour the farm's organic fields and get intimately acquainted with how their food for the evening was grown. Tea, craft beer, and wine will be available to complement the experience.
This emerging menu consists of small plate entrees prepared by Washington Place Bistro & Inn Executive Chef Bradley Johnson and will spotlight certified organic vegetables from Maplestar Farm and other fresh, local ingredients. Each small plate will feature a carefully paired wine from Wente Vinyeards. We can’t give you all the details yet because everything is subject to seasonal whims and Chef Bradley's creativity. Plus, we don’t want to ruin the surprise!
Baby Farm Tomatoes
The Trethewey family has owned and operated Maplestar Farm in Geauga County since 1940. Now celebrating their eighth year of organic certification, Dawn and Jake Trethewey sell sweet corn, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, salad greens, and other produce at the farm’s roadside stand, at the Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market in South Russell, through a small community supported agriculture (CSA) program, and to restaurants. They have a close relationship with the Driftwood Group, supplying specialty produce to Hodges, Cibreo, Washington Place Bistro and Inn, and Welshfield Inn.
The Driftwood Group
The Driftwood Group is one of Ohio’s premier restaurant and catering companies. Their award-winning eight restaurants, food truck, and catering services—staffed by experienced and talented individuals—have exhibited a model of excellence and consistency of culinary arts in Cleveland. Owned by partners Scott Kuhn and celebrity chef Christopher Hodgson, Driftwood is proud of the relationships they have with local farms like Maplestar Farm, which provide their guests with the freshest and finest ingredients. Corporate Chef Chris Johnson is even known to visit Maplestar from time to time and pick his own vegetables!
Bradley Johnson has been the Executive Chef at Washington Place Bistro & Inn since 2015 and has 25 years of cooking experience. Growing up, he spent time on the family farm in Minnesota where he experienced first hand the process of seed to finished plate. He started cooking at age 14 for his favorite local pizza place because he wanted to see how they made such wonderful pizza. There he was exposed to the fast pace and excitement of the hospitality business and learned the basic skills that allowed him to move on to the world of fine dining and high level cooking. Today, he loves being able to be create a memorable meal for people and seeing the impact that a simple plate of food can have. As he puts it, "I just try to make the world taste a little better one dish at a time!"
