This course is designed to foster collaboration among regulators, bankers and users of mitigation ensuring that all entities have a thorough grounding in conservation banking policy in order to facilitate the establishment of banks on the ground.
The full course is intended for staff that will be working on the development, review, or management of conservation banks.
Day 1 will cover the authorities behind mitigation banking programs, the current status of banking in the region, joint wetland and species banks, the business case from a private banker's perspective, and the process and requirements for establishing a conservation bank. During Day 2 and 3, participants will dive into the details of bank site selection, credit methodologies, performance standards and compliance, financial and real estate assurances, stewardship, and banking for non-listed species.
