Make Congress Look Gerald in the Eye
Your donation today will help place full-page ads featuring workers in influential publications and will help force Congress to act on tax incentives vital to sustaining and creating thousands of good American jobs. Jobs like Gerald's.
The first ad features Gerald Nickelson, an IUE-CWA member from Missouri who works for a company that makes transformers for the wind industry. Gerald is a good guy; he works hard, plays by the rules and every day at his job he is doing something that benefits not just him, but our planet as well.
The jobs of thousands of people like Gerald are at risk because Congress hasn't extended the Production Tax Credit — a 2.2-cent per killawatt incentive for the wind industry that levels the playing field for renewable wind energy. The Production Tax Credit is set to expire at the end of the year, and that will put 37,000 jobs in the wind industry at risk and eliminate the opportunity to create thousands more jobs next year (you can find out more about this and other important job-creating tax incentives here).
The Production Tax Credit is an important component of the BlueGreen Alliance's Jobs21! plan — which focuses on creating the jobs of the future and making our current jobs more secure in the industries that will drive economic growth and environmental sustainability for years to come, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation, manufacturing, broadband Internet and smart grid, recycling, and greener and safer chemicals and products.
With a Congress that hasn't put forward any plan to create and sustain good jobs, we came forward with a bold initiative that will create millions of good jobs that are also good for our environment.
Help us show Congress the people they'll hurt if they don't act now. Your donation of $5, $10, $25, $50 or more will support this campaign to show Congress the human face of a cleaner, more sustainable future for our nation.
